Requirements

  • Prior welding experience.
  • Able to work overtime as needed.
  • Ability to work evening or night shift.
  • Must be able to read, write and comprehend common vocabulary.
  • Must be able to calculate basic math, including fractions, decimals and percentages.
  • Must be able to read, interpret and work from blueprints, sketches, wiring diagrams, plans, layouts and/or templates.
  • Resides within a reasonable commuting distance of Washington MO.
  • Legal authorization to work in the United States on a permanent basis; visa sponsorship is not available for these positions.

Nice To Haves

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Participation in Future Farmers of America (FFA) or 4-H Welding projects / programs.
  • Completion of Welding Trade school and/or Apprenticeship program.
  • Two years of prior manufacturing experience.

Responsibilities

  • Set-up and operate MIG welding machines, adjust machine and wire feed as required.
  • Normally welding on 16 gauge to 10-gauge mild steel, attaching accessories and fittings or seam welding on parts.
  • Work from layout marks, simple drawings.
  • Use scale, square and power tools.
  • Assemble and tack weld repetitive jobs, finish weld, tack welded assemblies, usually in down and or vertical position.
  • Operate grinder to clean and shape weld.
  • Conduct visual and dimensional check of own work.
  • Support WEG's 5S program in an effort to maintain work area, equipment and supplies in a neat, organized manner.
  • Notify supervisor of material shortages or other concerns.
  • Work safely in required PPE to manufacture a high-quality component of a transformer.
