About The Position

The Welder performs fabrication, repair, and modification of metal components and structures in support of TACOM maintenance and sustainment operations. The role applies welding techniques to restore or enhance equipment and structural integrity in accordance with technical specifications and quality standards. This position is contingent upon award.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent; supplemental technical or vocational training preferred
Typically 3-5 years of experience in welding, fabrication, or metal repair in an industrial, maintenance, or military environment
Must be certified in MIG, stick and pipe welding.
Must have knowledge of the use of both acetylene and electrical welding equipment, welding standards and trade procedures, processes and techniques.
Must have the ability to read and follow schematics, blueprints and other specifications.
Strong attention to detail and ability to produce high-quality work
Ability to perform work in physically demanding environments
Ability to obtain or maintain a U.S. Government security clearance (as required)
U.S. citizenship required

Nice To Haves

Previous experience supporting DoD, Army, or TACOM programs
Certification in welding (e.g., AWS Certified Welder)
Experience working on military vehicles, equipment, or structural components
Knowledge of metallurgy, structural repair standards, and fabrication best practices
Experience supporting government inspections, audits, and compliance programs
Prior government contracting experience

Responsibilities

Welds metal components together to fabricate or repair products, such as machine parts, plant equipment, mobile homes, motors and generators, according to layouts, blueprints or work orders, using brazing and a variety of arc and gas welding equipment.
Welds metal parts together, using both gas welding or brazing and any combination of arc welding processes, performs related tasks such as thermal cutting and grinding, repairs broken or cracked parts, fills holes and increases size of metal parts, positions and clamps together components of fabricated metal products preparatory to welding.
May locate and repair cracks in industrial engine cylinder heads, using inspection equipment and gas torch, may perform repairs only and be required to pass employer performance tests or standard tests to meet certification standards of governmental agencies or professional and technical associations.
