About The Position

The U.S. Army Tank-automotive and Armaments Command (TACOM) sustains the Army’s mission to develop, acquire, field, and sustain ground combat, tactical, and support systems throughout their lifecycle. The program focuses on ensuring operational readiness, reliability, and safety of automotive and ground support equipment critical to Army operations. Under this contract, personnel provide maintenance, repair, overhaul, and sustainment support in accordance with Army technical manuals, safety standards, and performance requirements. The Packer is responsible for preparing, packing, and labeling materials, parts, and equipment for storage or shipment in support of TACOM maintenance and logistics operations. The selected individual will verify parts, quantities, and documentation against packing lists and work orders. This role ensures items are packaged securely, documented accurately, and handled in accordance with shipping requirements, safety standards, and government property procedures. This position is contingent upon award.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent; supplemental technical or vocational training preferred
Typically 1-3 years of experience in packing, warehousing, shipping, or material handling
Knowledge of basic packing and shipping procedures
Ability to read and follow packing instructions, work orders, and shipping documents
Basic computer skills and attention to detail for accurate labeling and documentation
Ability to perform work in physically demanding environments
Ability to obtain or maintain a U.S. Government security clearance (as required)
U.S. citizenship required

Responsibilities

Prepares finished products for shipment or storage by placing them in shipping containers, the specific operations performed being dependent upon the type, size, and number of units to be packed, the type of container employed, and method of shipment.
Placing of items in shipping containers, and may involve one or more of the following: knowledge of various items of stock in order to verify content, selection of appropriate type and size of container, inserting enclosures in container; using excelsior or other material to prevent breakage or damage, closing and sealing container, and applying labels or entering identifying data on container.
