About The Position

In this role, you will be responsible for lay out, fits, welding, fabricating, casting, and forging components to assemble structural forms, building, and bridge parts. Performs welding of structural steel and miscellaneous metal components in accordance with approved welding procedures, American Welding Society (AWS) requirements, American Institute of Steel Construction (AISC) requirements, shop drawings, and project specifications.

Requirements

1-2 years of experience in welding.
Appropriate welding certifications required for the type of welding being performed.
Demonstrated organizational skills and ability to manage welding tasks, materials, and work priorities.
Effective verbal communication skills and ability to work effectively with fitters, supervisors, inspectors, and production personnel.
Ability to safely perform all tasks in accordance with OSHA, AWS, AISC, and Haskell requirements.
Ability to read and interpret weld symbols, welding procedures, and fabrication documents.
Ability to perform structural steel welding in accordance with approved welding procedures and quality standards.
Ability to use welding equipment, grinders, magnetic drills, cutting torches, heating equipment, and related fabrication tools.
Ability to identify weld defects and perform corrective actions when required.
Ability to safely operate overhead cranes and material handling equipment when properly trained and authorized.
Ability to verify weld quality and compliance with applicable specifications.
Demonstrated commitment to safety, quality, and attendance.

Nice To Haves

Experience welding structural steel in accordance with AWS and AISC requirements preferred.

Responsibilities

Set up and operate welding equipment in accordance with approved welding procedures and project requirements.
Maintain required welding certifications and perform welding in accordance with AWS and company quality requirements.
Assist Fitter with assembly of fabricated members as needed.
Use cutting torches and heating equipment to achieve required preheat temperatures as needed.
Operate magnetic drills, grinders, and other fabrication tools required to support welding activities.
Operate overhead cranes and material handling equipment to position materials and assemblies for welding when properly trained and authorized.
Use carbon arc gouging equipment to prepare and back gouge welds as required by approved welding procedures.
Interpret weld symbols, welding procedures, and fabrication requirements.
Perform welding in accordance with approved welding procedures, quality requirements, and project specifications.
Clean and prepare weld joints before, during, and after welding activities.
Inspect completed welds for compliance with applicable quality standards and project requirements.
Verify weld quality, fit-up conditions, and dimensional requirements prior to welding.
Maintain welding equipment, cables, tools, and work areas in a clean and serviceable condition.
Follow all company safety, quality, and environmental policies and procedures.
Travel as required.
