About The Position

Primetals Technologies USA is hiring a Welder II for its Cortland, Ohio facility. The role performs welding and flame-cutting work on aluminum, steel, and other metal parts. Under general supervision, the Welder uses hand welding and flame-cutting equipment to join metal components, including plates and pipes in flat, horizontal, or vertical positions. Work is performed from engineering drawings, sketches, prints, operation sheets, preliminary drawings, and written or verbal instructions. The position also includes preparing surfaces, welding in multiple positions, leading assigned projects without supervision, and building up worn or defective surfaces. Other work may be assigned at management’s discretion.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
2–5 years of experience.
Welding certification.
Driver’s license.
Ability to use hand tools and the listed personal protective equipment: safety boots, hard hat, safety glasses, welding gloves, fall protection, ear plugs, FR uniforms, and welding hood.

Nice To Haves

Crane and forklift certification; in-house training is provided to obtain certification.

Responsibilities

Weld aluminum, steel, and other metal parts using welding metals and metal alloys.
Weld parts according to engineering drawings and specifications.
Use hand welding and flame-cutting equipment, including arc welders, gas welders, and gas torches, to join metal components such as plates and pipes.
Work from sketches, prints, operation sheets, preliminary drawings, and written or verbal instructions.
Clean and prepare surfaces to be welded.
Perform welding in multiple positions, including G3 and G6.
Lead an assigned specific project without supervision.
Build up worn or defective surfaces.
Perform other work assigned at management’s discretion.
