Requirements

  • Three years of experience in the operation and use of welding equipment, materials, and related shop equipment to repair, maintain, or fabricate parts, equipment, or structures
  • Completion of a three-year, high school Vo-Tech training program in welding and eighteen months of experience in the operation and use of welding equipment, materials, and related shop equipment to repair, maintain, or fabricate parts, equipment, or structures
  • Completion of an approved welder apprentice program
  • A welding certificate D1.1 from the American Welding Society
  • An equivalent combination of experience and training
  • Possession of an active Pennsylvania Class C Driver's License
  • Ability to perform essential job functions

Responsibilities

  • Perform skilled welding on metal parts, frames, plows, hitches, and bridge components using various welding methods
  • Follow safety rules, use protective equipment, and maintain a clean and organized work area
  • Operate tools and vehicles when needed to complete field repairs and support transportation activities
  • Participate in environmental training and support goals in the Strategic Environmental Management Program
  • Carry out physically demanding tasks in difficult weather and site conditions while using proper protective gear
  • Work with supervisors and coworkers to schedule tasks, respond to emergencies, and complete repair assignments
