About The Position

Truestone, an Akima company, is hiring a Welder to work on-site in Tobyhanna, Pennsylvania. The role fabricates and repairs metal components, products, equipment, and structures using manual welding, brazing, cutting, and related processes. Work includes aluminum, steel, armor plate, stainless steel, and dissimilar metals, and may involve components of varied sizes, shapes, and thicknesses. Welding is performed in flat, vertical, horizontal, and overhead positions, on concrete floors or on or in equipment being repaired. The Welder uses accepted trade methods and a variety of welding equipment and processes, including shielded arc, MIG, TIG, flux-core, brazing, oxygen/acetylene cutting, and plasma arc methods. Duties include interpreting layouts, blueprints, sketches, diagrams, and work orders; positioning and clamping components; setting up equipment for material thickness; and carrying out work processes such as pre-heating, bead and tack welding, flame cutting, and heat treating. Work may include repairing cracked or broken parts, filling holes, increasing the size of metal parts, and meeting close tolerances and complete-penetration requirements. Candidates must be U.S. citizens and pass the required government background checks, including credit and criminal checks, as well as pre-employment drug testing and a physical. An annual employment physical is also required. Candidates must be able to work first, second, or third shift as needed. AWS qualifications are required or must be obtained within 60 days of employment. The work environment includes exposure to dirt, grease, noise, odors, smoke, and fumes, and requires protective equipment.
