About The Position

This is a permanent, 2nd shift position for a Welder. The base pay starts at $19.92 - $22.60 per hour, with an additional $1.50 shift differential. The work schedule is Monday through Friday, from 3:00 pm to 12:00 am. The role involves various welding and manufacturing tasks, requiring adherence to safety rules, proper operation of equipment, and quality control.

Requirements

  • Associates degree or equivalent from a 2-year College or technical school; or (1) to three (3) years working experience in welding; or equivalent combination of education and experience as a welder/fitter in the manufacturing industry
  • Read blueprints and drawings
  • Read and comprehend documents including but not limited to policy manuals, safety rules/programs, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, and simple correspondence
  • Ability to communicate information effectively one-on-one and in small group situations and settings is required
  • Perform general mathematic calculations including but not limited to addition, subtraction, multiplication, fractions, percentages, and division.
  • Required to use power hand tools
  • Required to drive a forklift
  • Ability to work effectively to meet deadlines
  • Read different measuring devices (i.e. tape measure, protractor, micrometer)
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds on a continual basis above shoulder height and below the waist
  • Must be at least 18 years of age to apply

Responsibilities

  • Coordination of welder settings, gun speed/travel and gas flow with the observed condition of bead
  • Reading a tape measure and blueprints to shop standard
  • Deciding when adjustment or gun manipulation needs to be altered
  • Deciding how much and what repairs to make for pin holes and burn-through caused by an auto welder
  • Training and teaching proper welding procedures in accordance with manufacturing job procedures
  • Operating overhead crane and other lifting equipment
  • Holding beads to specified shapes, sizes, and penetrations while maintaining the quality of the product
  • Keeping numerical and alphabetical sequences correct
  • Maintaining continuous improvement practices in the work area
  • May be assigned other projects and duties as designated by Team Leader
