About The Position

The Welder 3 can read and understand weldment and fabrication drawings. They will use different types of weld machines and weld processes that include: MIG, TIG, plasma cutter, cutting torch on stainless steel, steel, and aluminum. The Welder 3 has successfully passed additional weld (vertical up, horizontal, and overhead) qualifications.

Requirements

• Welding trade school certification or 3 years prior MIG or TIG welding experience
• Must be able to pass a Company weld evaluation (MIG & TIG)
• Operate a plasma cutter and acetylene torch
• Read and understand blueprints
• The ability to use a tape measure and operate small powered hand tools
• Basic computer skills are required

Responsibilities

• Thorough understanding of MIG/TIG processes & machine settings procedures
• Read, understand, and detect errors in the weldment and fabrication drawings; lay out, assemble, tack, and weld to the drawings
• Operate vertical and horizontal band saws, and drill presses
• Operate a plasma cutter and acetylene torch
• Cut, drill, and deburr material using drawing instructions and blueprints
• Work safely and wear proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
• Ensure that all work meets or exceeds quality specifications
• Keep work area clean, maintain tools and equipment
• Perform other duties as assigned
