About The Position
Responsible for joining metal parts by safely setting up, maintaining and operating welding equipment as specified by blueprints and work orders. Work with minimal supervision and exercise independent judgment to assure quality welding.
Requirements
- Thorough understanding of machines, principles, and tools used for welding including design, use, maintenance and repair.
- Must have the ability to read, understand and interpret blueprints
- Basic understanding of design techniques, principles, and tools necessary for the precise production of technical plans, drawings, models and blueprints.
- Must have a high level of attention to detail for quality welds
- Basic understanding of mathematics as related to welding assignments.
- High school diploma or equivalent
- 1-3 years of practical welding experience
- Must be able to demonstrate the ability to successfully pass a weld certification test within the first six (6) moths of employment. The timing of the certification test will be determined by management based on ability demonstrated. Recertification required every six (6) months after certification is obtained
Responsibilities
- Reads and interprets blueprints, specifications, diagrams, or schematics to determine appropriate welding processes.
- Plans details of the work order procedures including gathering the required tools and materials based on instructions provided for the job.
- Prepares, assembles and tacks weld parts and surfaces to be welded.
- Repairs and fabricates various items and equipment using cutting, burning, and welding techniques and equipment meeting all production and quality standards and requirements.
- Monitors the welding, cutting and fitting process to ensure parts are not overheated or damaged by warping, distortion, expansion or shrinkage.
- Maintains, organizes, and cleans equipment and the work area.
- Notifies supervisor when faulty equipment or defective materials are discovered.
- Ensure all guards and safety equipment have been installed and properly checked
- Adhere to ISO 9001 Quality, ISO 14001 Environmental, and OSHA 18001 Certification requirements
- Required to understand and follow all safety policies and procedures
- Performs other duties as assigned
