About The Position

The Welder is responsible for the operations associated with the recognition, set up, and operation of hand and power welding tools while ensuring that all of his/her efforts are compliant with the company Health, Safety, and Environmental standards. Duties may include the operation of hand welding or flame-cutting equipment to weld, join, or repair metal components. The Welder should possess knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles consistently utilized within the trade. This position operates under flexible parameters. The primary goal of this position is to achieve excellence in all facets of the position. Providing the highest quality product safely, effectively and efficiently decreases accidents and errors and increase profits.

Requirements

  • Ability to decipher technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models required.

Nice To Haves

  • High School diploma, GED Certification, or equivalent experience in a similar role preferred.
  • Previous experience in the welding field preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Strictly adheres to all Metals Recycling Business Health, Safety, and Environmental standards.
  • Provides a safe environment for all employees, customers and visitors.
  • Weld components in flat, vertical, or overhead positions.
  • Operate manual or semi-automatic welding equipment to fuse metal segments using processes such as gas tungsten arc, gas metal arc, flux-cored arc, plasma arc, shield metal arc, resistance welding, and submerged arc welding.
  • Monitor the fitting, burning, and welding process to avoid overheating of parts or warping, shrinking, distortion, or expansion of material.
  • Provide backup or assistance throughout the yard as needed or assigned.
  • Report all equipment deficiencies or malfunctions requiring maintenance or repair to the proper supervisor.
  • Maintain all shielded metal arc and gas metal arc welding equipment and replace as needed.
  • Support the Company's Internal Control process which includes understanding, communicating, and complying with defined internal controls, as well as suggesting and making modifications to the policies, procedures, and controls to better relate to the business.
  • Communicating upward problems in operations, noncompliance with the code of conduct, or other policy violations or illegal actions.
