About The Position

Great Dane is seeking makers to join their expanding team in an environment with the highest safety standards in the industry. This role involves performing general welding assignments for any/all areas of the plant to support production goals.

Requirements

Employee must be able to use pneumatic power tools and equipment of all types.
Employee must be able to accurately read a tape measure.
Employee must be able to perform and remember how to perform multiple tasks from day to day.
Employee must be able to perform the physical requirements listed in that section of this job description.
Employee must look for potential cost savings in the work process, help keep scrap and waste to a minimum and be efficient in the use of all supplies.
The employee must perform the assigned tasks in a way they meet or exceed the required production level.
Proficient in Troubleshooting Skills
Proficient in Manufacturing Instruction (MI)
Proficient in Lift Truck Repair & Maintenance
Proficient in Vehicle & Fleet Welding
Proficient in Truck Operations & Load Securement
Proficient in Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP)
Proficient in Blueprint Reading

Responsibilities

Ability to weld on a flat, curved, or vertical surface.
Ability to set a welding machine, including the gas, volts, amps, and wire speed.
Ability to weld in a variety of positions, particularly overhead.
Be able to make minor adjustments to the welding equipment as needed.
Properly load raw materials, parts, etc., into the welding machine.
Removes work pieces and scrap from machines.
Files, grinds, or scrapes sharp edges, burrs, scales, or rust from work pieces.
Hammers out bent or warped spots in metal.
Sorts, marks, tags finished work.
Transports material or signal crane operator to move materials.
Compares work piece with straight edge or template to verify conformance to specifications.
Cleans work area, machines, tools, and equipment.
Performs other routine duties as needed.
