About The Position

The Welder Technician, Associate refurbishes and repairs rail car components, ensuring work complies with Association of American Railroads requirements, customer quality control requirements, company guidelines, and safety rules. The role performs assigned work under the direction of a Supervisor and department leader, maintains basic knowledge of rail-car repair procedures, and works with team members in a team environment. The position may also assist in training and coaching new employees when required.

Requirements

• Ability to prioritize multiple tasks while maintaining attention to detail.
• Ability to use measuring equipment, such as a ruler and other precision measuring equipment.
• Ability to work and communicate within a team setting.
• Ability to use machines and tools for welding, cutting, gouging, inspecting, and testing.
• Experience with burning, air arc, and grinding welding processes.
• A valid driver's license is required for positions in Modesto, California.

• One or more years of work experience in a manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

• Comply with Association of American Railroads regulations, quality assurance standards, and Greenbrier Rail Services Environmental Health and Safety policies.
• Perform assigned tasks under the direction of a Supervisor and department leader, and notify them of materials or equipment needed to complete tasks.
• Refurbish and repair rail car components using welders, grinders, cutting torches, and air arching.
• Perform minor repairs to tools and equipment to maintain them in good working order.
• Interact with Supervisors and team members and assist with training and coaching new employees when required.
• Maintain and establish basic knowledge of Association of American Railroads repair procedures.
• Set up and operate metalworking tools, including welders, grinders, cutting torches, and other tools related to the work process.
• Comply with special processes assigned based on work orders.
