The Spot Welder safely and efficiently operates spot welding equipment to join metal components in accordance with established production requirements and specifications. The Spot Welder is responsible for properly positioning and handling materials, adjusting equipment settings as required, and producing consistent, quality welds while meeting established safety, quality, and productivity standards.

Requirements

  • Ability to safely and effectively operate spot welding equipment.

  • Ability to communicate effectively and work cooperatively with team members and supervisors.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand and walk for extended periods throughout assigned work areas.
  • The employee is regularly required to use hands and fingers to handle, control, and manipulate materials, tools, equipment, and controls.
  • The employee must have sufficient close-range vision to inspect materials, components, and completed welds.
  • The employee must be able to communicate effectively with coworkers, supervisors, and other personnel.
  • The employee must be able to understand and respond to verbal instructions and workplace communications.
  • The employee is frequently required to work at a consistent and established production pace.
  • The employee is frequently required to bend, stoop, and maneuver materials and components as necessary to perform assigned duties.
  • The employee must be able to lift and move materials, parts, and other objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • The employee must be able to safely operate and work around welding equipment and other manufacturing machinery.
  • The employee must be able to comply with all applicable safety requirements, including the proper use of required PPE.
  • The employee must be able to work according to an established schedule and meet attendance and productivity expectations.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience in a manufacturing or fabrication environment preferred.
  • At least one year of related welding or manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Experience with spot welding equipment preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Safely and efficiently operate spot welding equipment to join metal components and assemblies.
  • Set and adjust welding equipment, including heat, pressure, and other operating parameters, as required to produce consistent and uniform welds.
  • Position and align metal components accurately prior to welding.
  • Inspect completed welds and components to ensure they meet established quality standards and specifications.
  • Perform spot welding operations accurately and efficiently while minimizing excessive marking or damage to materials.
  • Read and interpret work orders, drawings, sketches, blueprints, and other production documentation as required.
  • Safely handle, move, and stack materials and finished components to prevent damage and maintain an organized work area.
  • Identify and report quality issues, equipment concerns, or other production-related problems to the appropriate supervisor or team leader.
  • Follow all company safety policies, procedures, work instructions, and personal protective equipment (PPE) requirements.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
  • Meet established production, quality, attendance, and performance expectations.
  • Communicate effectively with coworkers, team members, supervisors, and other personnel regarding production, quality, safety, and equipment-related concerns.
  • Participate in Company continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
