About The Position

The spot welder operator is responsible for setting up and safely operating spot weld machines, and to spot weld metal parts, components or assemblies. This role involves ensuring equipment is set up properly, checking and testing welds, performing necessary maintenance, and completing all required paperwork and data entry. The operator must produce quality welds according to drawings, work instructions, and customer requirements, while adhering to ISO procedures and safety standards.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED is required.
Passing a qualified Welding Test and class-appropriate level of experience is required.
Experience in machine operation in a manufacturing environment is required.
An ability to operate and set up square as per work instructions is required.
An ability to follow written and verbal instructions is required.
An ability to accurately measure and read measuring tape is required.
An ability to complete paperwork and data entry is required.
An ability to read drawings to ensure the part is to run according to specifications and work instructions is required.
Working the first or second shift and weekends and overtime as needed is required.
A focus on safe working procedures is required.
An ability to follow Supervisor and Managers instructions and help in other departments as needed is required.
The ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality is required.
The ability to remain organized with a keen attention to detail in a fast-paced environment is required.
The ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines utilizing excellent time management skills is required.
Strong and effective verbal and written communication skills and interpersonal and conflict resolution skills are required.

Nice To Haves

Higher vocational welding background is preferred but not required.
Experience in an ISO 9001 environment is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

Operate spotwelder (single/multi-head)
Ensure equipment is set up properly according to specifications
Check and test welds
Clean tips when necessary
Complete coupon tests after every tip change
Complete all paperwork and data entry as required
Produce quality welds as per drawings/work instructions and customer requirements
Follow work instructions, read drawings and maintain standard times
Check and test welds as per department procedures and quality standards
General housekeeping and day to day tool maintenance to ensure equipment is working properly
Follow all ISO procedures and maintain quality standards
Follow all safety procedures and policies
Perform other duties as assigned by Supervisor and/or Lead Hand
