About The Position

Inspect, troubleshoot, and perform the required welding on all equipment at the mine. Perform preventive maintenance and catastrophic failure repair.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of experience in welding and repair of heavy diesel equipment.
  • Experience in hard surfacing and repair of ground engaging tools at a surface coal mine.
  • Ability to do the following: Weld in all positions (horizontal, vertical and overhead).
  • Ability to do the following: Properly use a torch, air arc, stick weld, and wire weld.
  • Have a working knowledge of MIG and TIG units and the different types of metals associated with mining equipment.
  • Ability to perform line bore repairs with NO quality issues to include: ID cutting of blades, buckets, D11 frames, dump bodies, etc.; Face cutting/grinding; Track frame bores and swing bosses.
  • Basic math skills.
  • A valid driver’s license.
  • A high school diploma or GED.
  • Self-motivated and able to work with minimal supervision.
  • Able to communicate and coordinate with co-workers and supervisors.
  • Follow Company, State and Federal regulations, plans and policies.
  • High safety standards for self and others and wear required personal protective equipment.
  • Able to read & understand Material Safety Data Sheets.
  • Able to operate power tools, hand tools, etc.
  • Ability to stand for prolonged periods of time.
  • Ability to be seated for up to 4 hours to operate equipment or vehicles.
  • Ability to work from elevated positions, walk/climb up and down stairs/steps and climb on and off equipment and ladders.
  • Ability to lift/raise 10 - 50 lbs. without mechanical assistance frequently during the course of work shift.
  • Ability to perform repetitive hand and wrist motions (push, pull, twist, handle), and have rapid reflex movements of the arms and legs and good hand to eye coordination.
  • Ability to work in extreme conditions, including but not limited to changing weather conditions, dust, mud, varying levels of noise from low to high, varying degrees of light and dark, in and around artificial light and in a confined work area.
  • Ability to wear required protective footwear, hearing and eye protection, and other personal protective equipment as required by Company and MSHA.

Nice To Haves

  • Large dragline repair experience is preferred.
  • Trade Certificate preferred
