About The Position

This position is for a Welder Journeyperson responsible for various welding tasks, preparation, and maintenance of equipment in a shop and yard environment. The role requires adherence to safety protocols and may involve training in specific equipment operation.

Requirements

• Journeyperson certification is required
• Knowledge of welding machines & associated equipment
• Experience with basic tools required
• Shop environment orientation (exits, fire extinguishers, first aid & eyewash stations, spill kits, propane storage) and yard environment (building locations, processes)
• Squatting, bending, reaching, and walking
• PPE training for possible noise exposure, mists/vapors, gloves, safety glasses and steel toed boots
• WHMIS training
• Hand & Power tool safety training

Nice To Haves

• 3 – 5 years’ experience preferred
• Overhead Crane Course is an asset but will train in-house if necessary
• NOV in-house forklift training if required
• NOV in-house Overhead/Jib crane training

Responsibilities

• Welding (MIG, TIG, Flux Arc, etc.)
• Preparation for assigned welding tasks, including grinding
• Hard surfacing
• Cutting components with a torch, plasma or saw as necessary
• Silver soldering
• Use and maintain tools, material handling equipment and welding equipment
• Fitting and measuring materials
• Daily overhead crane usage after course completion
• Perform other duties as assigned
