About The Position

Voith Hydro is seeking a part-time Welder Intern to support its North American Hydro division in York, Pennsylvania. The intern will work in the Fabrication department on unique, one-off components for large hydroelectric machines, welding steel of various thicknesses and grades. The ideal candidate has a strong aptitude for learning and can pass ASME welder qualifications.

Requirements

• Must be enrolled in a dual-enrollment program with a participating Vo-Tech program.

Nice To Haves

• Flux Cored Arc Welding.
• Gas Tungsten Arc Welding.
• Shielded Metal Arc Welding.

Responsibilities

• Perform Shielded Metal Arc Welding (stick) in 2G on stainless steel and carbon steel.
• Perform Flux Cored Arc Welding (Dual Shield) in 2G and 3G on stainless steel and carbon steel.
• Arc and back-gouge welds, and perform nondestructive examination of back gouges.
• Grind, clean, and protect parts before leaving the production area.
• Perform simple fabrication assembly of components.
• Assist welders, boilermakers, and grinders with general setup of job components.
• Deburr components and grind weld-holding clips as necessary.
• Maintain and repair welding equipment.
