Welder III Lead - 2nd Shift

About The Position

The Welder III is expected to perform Mig welding, electric or robotic welding equipment in the fabrication of parts, to be used in the assembly of product lines to create a high quality finished product. Components may be standardized or customized as to design and function. This role is for the 2nd shift, Monday - Friday, 3 PM to 1 AM, with a pay rate of $36.50 per hour, which includes a shift and lead premium.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent experience.
  • 2 years of experience in a production welding environment.
  • Successful completion of internal weld test.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and mathematical skills.
  • Ability to read diagrams/prints/weld symbols.

Nice To Haves

  • Demonstrated experience in root cause problem solving (5 Why, 8D, PDCA, etc.).
  • Demonstrated experience effectively training other employees to work instructions/standard work.
  • Previous experience using SAP or equivalent ERP system (Oracle, JD Edwards, Microsoft Dynamics).

Responsibilities

  • Perform safe and effective operation of all equipment needed to perform job function.
  • Flex across different products and areas to support business needs.
  • Follow established procedures, processes, or policies.
  • Provide training to new employees or employees learning new work areas to work instructions/standard work.
  • Receive instructions, prints and work orders for each job.
  • Plan details of working procedure, tools and material requirements.
  • Perform basic welds involving varying degrees of precision and control.
  • Clean and prepare surfaces to be welded.
  • Set up, assemble and tack weld parts.
  • Use of hoists, mechanical drawings, and fabrication equipment.
  • Perform work in adherence with quality standards.
  • Practice safe work habits, following safety guidelines with respect to operation and personal safety gear, and support company safety initiatives.
  • Housekeeping: Ensure and observe all safety and housekeeping rules and guidelines including proper machine guarding and lockout/tagout procedures.
  • Maintain a clean safe work area.
  • Set up, adjust and operate Robot Welder.
  • Read and interpret blueprint specifications to determine procedures, verify programs and tooling.
  • Perform complex machine set ups and critical operations.
  • Use a variety of precision measuring devices to set up and adjust work and verify conformance of work to specifications.
  • Understand special material handling required for materials and equipment used in the work cell.
  • Repair/correction of errors.
  • Participation in training sessions.
