About The Position

The Welder II performs repair and maintenance welding on equipment, structures, and fixtures by applying heat to bond or fuse metal surfaces and parts. The work includes using hand welding and flame-cutting equipment to assemble metal components, maintain and repair manufacturing production equipment and infrastructure, inspect weldments for weaknesses, and perform metal cutting, trimming, or simple fixture fabrication. This Support 2 role requires basic knowledge of job procedures and tools, typically acquired through work experience and possibly vocational or technical education. The position works under moderate supervision and handles primarily routine problems, which may sometimes require interpreting or deviating from standard procedures. Communication may require some explanation or interpretation.

Responsibilities

• Use hand welding and flame-cutting equipment, including arc welders, gas welders, and gas torches, to assemble metal components into equipment parts.
• Maintain and repair manufacturing production equipment, structures, pipe systems, and ductwork.
• Inspect existing weldments to identify areas of weakness.
• Use welding equipment to perform metal cutting or trimming and fabricate simple fixtures.
