About The Position

We are seeking a knowledgeable Welder II to join our team at Glenn Metalcraft. Under limited supervision, the Welder II position joins and fabricates metal material by applying appropriate welding techniques. This role involves an advanced understanding of welding necessary to produce metal components, adherence to all safety policies and procedures, and the ability to weld multiple types of materials. The Welder II will also be responsible for setting up components, testing and inspecting welded surfaces, adjusting welding machines, and accurately reporting daily production quantities. Daily maintenance of welding machines, quality checks, workstation setup, and maintaining a clean work area are also key aspects of this position. Additionally, the role requires maintaining a positive attitude and potentially assisting with tack welding and touch-up points in robotic weld cells.

Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • 2 years welding experience required.
  • Ability to safely perform work in varying work conditions.
  • Flat Weld Certification (1G – 6G) preferred – Aws D1.1 and stainless.
  • Working knowledge of welding with previous experience in manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Ability to understand and follow instructions.
  • Effective problem-solving skills/detailed oriented/sense of urgency.
  • Ability to read blueprints and use measurement devices such as calipers, micrometers, and fillet gauges.
  • Ability to be forklift certified.
  • Ability to follow hoist safety protocols.
  • Self-motivated, takes initiative.
  • Ability to lift 40 lbs. on a consistent basis.
  • Ability to stand for up to 10 hours.
  • Excellent hand/eye coordination.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively use power tools.
  • Good manual dexterity, coordination, and stamina.
  • Consistently wear personal protective equipment.
  • Ability to work in production facility with fluctuating temperatures and humidity levels.

Nice To Haves

Responsibilities

  • Join and fabricate metal material by applying appropriate welding techniques.
  • Follow all safety policies and procedures, including lockout/Tag out.
  • Weld two or more different types (Mig, Tig, etc.).
  • Set up components for welding according to specifications.
  • Test and inspect welded surfaces and structure to discover flaws with Quality team.
  • Adjust welding machine.
  • Understand and accurately report daily production quantities to meet set number of parts per hour.
  • Perform consistent and accurate counts of materials and products.
  • Perform daily maintenance on welding machine.
  • Perform necessary quality checks on product and completes daily communication.
  • Setup workstation according to safety standards to perform maximum efficiency.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area and maintain all equipment according to established procedures.
  • Maintain a positive attitude with customers, clients, co-workers, and management.
  • Complete the first part approval process for complex jobs.
  • May tack weldments or components for robotic welding.
  • May touch up points in the robotic weld cell.
