About The Position

The Welder I performs welding repairs and asset fabrication projects at onsite and off-site locations, and assists maintenance personnel when required. The position supports field and shop welding repairs and fabrication, documents projects and time, requests parts and supplies, and maintains equipment and tools. The Welder must follow company safety policies, use appropriate personal protective equipment, attend mandatory monthly safety meetings, and promptly report safety violations and correct unsafe conditions.

Requirements

• Pass the company welding test.
• Demonstrate welding aptitude.
• Be able to obtain any welding certificates needed for certain tasks or projects.
• Be familiar with shop equipment such as drill presses, cranes, grinders, and saws.
• Demonstrate an understanding of metal welding theory and practices.
• Pass pulmonary function and respirator fit tests when required by the work assignment.
• Hold a valid Class C driver's license.
• Have a safe driving record for the last three years.
• Obtain company forklift certification within 90 days of employment.

Nice To Haves

• At least one year of maintenance welding experience, including use of arc, MIG, and stick welders, a plasma cutter, and acetylene equipment.
• Aluminum welding experience.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Forklift experience.

Responsibilities

• Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
• Assist with weld repairs and asset fabrication on and off site.
• Assist with designing, fabricating, and repairing metal.
• Document repair and fabrication projects and track time in accordance with department procedures.
• Request parts and supplies for assigned jobs.
• Assist with field and shop maintenance weld repairs and fabrication.
• Comply with company safety policies.
• Attend mandatory monthly safety meetings.
• Immediately report safety violations and correct unsafe acts or conditions.
• Properly maintain equipment, including service trucks, trailers, safety equipment, and tools.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
