About The Position
We are seeking a dedicated Welder Helper to assist our welding team in Baytown, Texas. This is a full-time position with a schedule of Monday through Friday, 6 AM to 6 PM, with rotating shifts. The role involves supporting welders in various tasks related to MIG welding on stainless steel components, preparing materials, and ensuring a safe and efficient work environment.
Requirements
- Experience assisting welders in an industrial or fabrication environment.
- Basic knowledge of MIG welding, stainless steel handling, and shop tools.
- Ability to lift heavy materials and work in hot or confined environments.
- Strong work ethic, reliability, and willingness to learn.
- Ability to follow instructions and maintain safety standards.
Responsibilities
- Assist welders with MIG welding on stainless steel components.
- Prepare materials, clean weld areas, and set up welding equipment.
- Support welders during fabrication of structural parts, pipe sections, and stainless assemblies.
- Operate grinders, saws, and basic shop tools to prep and finish welds.
- Hold, position, and secure materials during welding and fit-up.
- Help with layout, measuring, cutting, and material handling.
- Maintain a clean, safe work area and follow all safety procedures.
- Assist with moving girders, stiffeners, splice plates, and diaphragms for FCAW/MIG structural work.
- Perform basic tack welding if approved by supervisor.
- Work closely with welders and fitters to meet production goals.
