Welder - 6 month to 1 Year Contract
About The Position
The Welder Foreman is responsible for ensuring the shop runs smoothly from day to day by ensuring the team has everything they need to be successful. This role involves general responsibilities such as working with a commitment to safety, upholding core values, acting professionally, maintaining a clean work area, installing quality work, treating tools with respect, working on ladders and elevated platforms, identifying electrical parts, performing strenuous physical work, keeping up with changing technology, and wearing required tools. Specific responsibilities include assigning projects, maintaining manpower, monitoring deadlines, ensuring QA/QC, enforcing safety policies, conducting new hire orientation, facilitating training, ensuring shop cleanliness, putting together fabrication estimates, material take-off and ordering, and assisting with projects when needed. Other duties may be assigned.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED Required
- Knowledge of the construction process from scheduling to manpower to the labor, materials and equipment required for installation
- Knowledge of Constructability and the construction process
- Knowledge of Welding Codes – AWS, ASME and QA/QC procedures related to these codes
- Skill in conceptual estimating (conceiving a project in your mind and all the components of that project)
- Skill in acting as a self starter
- Skill in working with little supervision
- Skill in spatial orientation
- Skill in visualizing the constructability of an estimate
- Skill in identifying scope gaps in construction documents
- Skill in customer management
