About The Position

First Response Rail Service is seeking a dedicated and skilled Welder/Fitter to join its team in Skippers, Virginia. The employee will repair large metal containers by fitting metal sheets and performing MIG welding. The role includes setting up and maintaining welding equipment, inspecting welds for quality, preparing materials with hand and power tools, and maintaining a clean, safe work area. Employees must follow company guidelines and safety rules.

Requirements

• Minimum of 2 years of MIG welding experience; a welding test will be administered.
• Strong mechanical background.
• Ability to use basic hand tools.
• Ability to bend, squat, twist, and walk throughout the entire work shift.
• Ability to work independently.
• Ability to occasionally climb using various types of ladders.
• Ability to work outdoors throughout the shift in all weather conditions, including extreme heat and cold, dust, and noisy environments.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
• Ability to pass a drug screen and background check.
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.
• Good problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
• Strong commitment to workplace safety.

Responsibilities
