This position involves independently laying out, fitting, assembling, tacking, and welding structural steel components used in overhead crane manufacturing. The role requires producing quality welds that meet drawing, procedure, and inspection requirements on the first pass with minimal repair or rework. The Welder Fitter III will read and interpret fabrication drawings, engineering specifications, weld symbols, and work instructions, while maintaining dimensional accuracy and drawing tolerances. This role also involves determining and applying appropriate fit-up, welding sequence, fixturing, and bracing methods to minimize distortion, and conducting visual inspections of fit-up and completed welds. The position operates fabrication tools, welding equipment, overhead cranes, forklifts, and material handling equipment, and assists in troubleshooting fit-up, fabrication, and welding issues. Additionally, the Welder Fitter III will support and mentor less experienced fitters and welders, maintain clean work areas and equipment, and follow all safety directives and procedures.
