About The Position

Welders are responsible for the timely welding, fitting, fabrication and finishing duties in the food and beverage industry. This position will require the employee to have advanced experience and skills with precision welding of various materials including in-place welding of thin-walled stainless steel tubing systems. This position will manage small projects and will also function as a team member of larger projects. This position may be subject to long hours at times to meet scheduled due dates. We are looking for an employee who wants to build a career and grow with our company. Welders must follow all established safety, GMP’s and environmental standards and adhere to all plant technical standards. Welders must also follow all federal, state, local and company regulations including OSHA, FDA, EPA and SQF. This role has a responsibility for ensuring both food safety and quality of Chobani product.

Requirements

  • High school Diploma or GED
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in a food production / manufacturing environment installing, repairing, and/or troubleshooting issues related to welding.
  • Previous dairy, food and beverage industry experience preferred
  • Technical Trade school certification, military applicable certifications, vocational training preferred
  • Familiarity with AWS 18.3 preferred
  • Practical operation of power tools and maintenance shop equipment
  • Ability to read mechanical and electrical drawings and schematics
  • Work with work orders and CMMS/EAM systems in web-based computer applications
  • Ability to effectively work with personnel of different backgrounds and skill level
  • Strong ability to balance multiple tasks given time constraints and ensure tasks are completed
  • Able to lift, push/pull and/or move items over 60 pounds, work on your feet for up to 12 hours, climb ladders, work at heights, work overhead, work in confined spaces, and work in very hot and very cool environments

Responsibilities

  • Read and interpret project plans, P&ID’s, blueprints and other written instructions and diagrams
  • Perform MIG, TIG and other types of welds based on project needs
  • Select proper fillers for jobs based on previous experience or project instructions
  • Coordinate with other team members for efficient installations
  • De-bur and grind metal as needed to achieve proper surface texture
  • Respond to maintenance calls and work orders promptly with a teaching mentality and positive demeanor. Assists operations in solving issues and improving efficiencies.
  • Innovative and possess ability to multi-task and shift priorities quickly while maintaining focus and professionalism in a fast paced and dynamic environment.
