About The Position

SMS group is an industrial equipment manufacturer for the steel industry. We design, build, and service equipment and sleep plants across the globe with a strong technical services/machine shop network in North America. The right candidate will perform welding operations such as arc, MIG, TIG brazing and burning in all positions on a variety of metals. They will also operate a drill press to make parts for fabrication, record measurements and pertinent information as required, and weld per SMAW, GMAW, GTAW standards in various positions. The role involves plasma arc cutting, air carbon arc cutting, pipe bending, fitting, welding, and threading. Additionally, the candidate will use horizontal and vertical saws, a torch, and a cut-off wheel, and will be responsible for setting up and operating all welding machines and fabrication area machines, including basic troubleshooting.

Requirements

Must have GED or High school Diplomas
Basic knowledge of mechanical applications
Follow instructions and established procedures.
Read and interpret prints, including welding prints

Responsibilities

Perform welding operations such as arc, MIG, TIG brazing and burning in all positions on a variety of metals.

Weld per SMAW, GMAW, GTAW standards; vertical up, vertical down, and horizontal
Plasma arc cutting

Pipe bending, fitting, welding, and threading
Use horizontal and vertical saws, torch, and cut off wheel
Set up and operate all welding machines, be able to do basic troubleshooting
Set up and operate all machines in the fabrication area, be able to do basic troubleshooting
