About The Position

Advantage Steel Fabrication is looking for an experienced Fabricator / Fitter to join our team in Saxonburg, PA. This position is responsible for fitting and fabricating structural steel components used in construction and infrastructure projects. The ideal candidate has experience working with structural steel, can read fabrication drawings, and takes pride in producing quality work in a safe, team-oriented environment. Advantage Steel Fabrication specializes in structural steel fabrication and custom steel solutions. Our team produces components for projects including bridges, buildings, foundation systems, locks and dams, and other specialized structures. This is a Safety Sensitive Position requiring work on project sites, including federal projects, and in a heavy manufacturing facility with various safety hazards which are potentially life-threatening to the employee. Project sites contain various safety hazards associated with heavy construction. This position may require working at heights, around heavy equipment, around high voltage, and under constantly changing circumstances. This position may also entail project site work at night and on weekends on an as needed basis. This position will be subject to more stringent drug testing and compliance policies associated with our status as a Federal Contractor. Some positions with the company will have access to confidential and proprietary information. Successful candidates for those positions will be required to sign our standard confidentiality agreement as a condition of employment.

Requirements

2+ years of experience in structural steel fabrication preferred
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, and weld symbols
Knowledge of structural steel fitting and fabrication processes
Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality and safety
High school diploma or equivalent required

Nice To Haves

Experience in an AISC, certified fabrication environment preferred
Experience with welding processes including SMAW, FCAW, GMAW, and GTAW preferred
Understanding of Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS)
Knowledge of AWS D1.1 Structural Welding Code – Steel preferred
AWS D1.5 Bridge Welding Code experience is a plus
Ability to successfully complete welder qualification testing in multiple positions
Experience operating fabrication equipment, including: Press brakes, Shears, Ironworkers, Drill presses/magnetic drills, Oxyfuel and plasma cutting equipment
Technical or trade school education preferred

Responsibilities

Fit and fabricate structural steel components according to drawings and specifications
Read and interpret blueprints, shop drawings, and fabrication drawings
Perform layout, cutting, fitting, and welding tasks
Follow Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS) and quality standards
Operate fabrication equipment safely and efficiently
Maintain a clean and safe work environment
