About The Position

Repairs and maintains machinery and mechanical equipment such as motors, pneumatic tools, conveyor systems, and production machines and equipment by performing the following duties. Observes mechanical devices in operation and listens to their sounds to locate causes of trouble. Dismantles devices to gain access to and remove defective parts. Repairs or replaces defective parts. Replace equipment. Starts devices to test their performance. Sets up and operates lathe, drill press, grinder, and other metalworking tools to make repair parts. Documents all work done on reports accordingly. Examines form and texture of parts to detect imperfections. Inspects used parts to determine dimensional changes. Adjusts functional parts of equipment and control devices. Installs special functional and structural parts in devices. Troubleshoot and repair basic electrical equipment. Welds/fabricates equipment and components. NOTE: The maintenance supervisor or plant director, at any time, depending on the needs of the company, could add other duties.

Requirements

  • One to three years maintenance experience in a manufacturing/food processing environment.
  • Must be able to communicate verbally and in writing in English.
  • Must be able to perform basic arithmetic and algebraic functions.
  • Must be able to troubleshoot equipment/process problems and propose solutions. Problem solving skills are essential to this position.
  • Fork Truck Operator Certification.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be frequently required to; stand, walk, use hands to handle or feel, reach with hands and arms, stoop, speak, hear, taste and smell.
  • The employee will be required to climb ladders and stairs and work on tall equipment.
  • The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 100 pounds.

Nice To Haves

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred; Trade school/occupational training desired but not required.
  • Conversational Spanish is desired but not required.
