About The Position

Meeco Sullivan, with its subsidiaries Wahoo Docks and Ravens Marine, has over 200 years of experience in manufacturing high-quality steel, timber, and aluminum dock systems. With four manufacturing facilities across North America, the company possesses extensive production capacity and expertise. The Welder/Fabricator's primary responsibility is MIG welding aluminum parts and assembling dock structures, ensuring all work is completed safely, accurately, cleanly, and in a timely manner, meeting quality control standards.

Requirements

  • MIG welding aluminum parts
  • Assembling dock structures
  • Read, count, and write to accurately complete all documentation.
  • Use of machines and hand tools necessary for tool fabrication, including lathe, milling machining, band saw, jig saw, drill press, filter, grinders, arc welder, brazing unit, and other standard tools.
  • Regular heavy lifting for assembly and repair.
  • Bending, lifting, and pushing up to 70 pounds is required.

  • Forklift operation (if required and trained).

Responsibilities

  • Create quality welds according to blueprints (weld symbols) and inspect welds for accuracy.
  • Prepare product to be welded by grinding, drilling, milling, tapping, and cutting aluminum parts.
  • Change wire and welding consumables as needed.
  • Responsible for the proper packaging, identifying, and moving of all finished products to the proper location.
  • Ensure all equipment is properly set up and used in a safe manner, and that all safety devices are in use.
  • Operate forklift, if required and trained.
  • Perform first piece inspections as well as all subsequent inspections as required by Wahoo Docks standards.
  • Prepare work by studying assembly instructions, blueprint specifications, and parts lists, gathering parts, subassemblies, tools, and materials.
  • Position parts and subassemblies by using templates or reading measurements.
  • Assemble components by examining connections for correct fit and fastening parts and subassemblies.
  • Verify specifications by measuring complete components.
  • Resolve assembly problems by altering dimensions to meet specifications, notifying supervisors to obtain additional resources.
  • Keep equipment operational by completing preventive maintenance requirements.
  • Observe all safety rules and regulations and act safely, being responsible for the safety of others.
  • Follow manufacturer's instructions, troubleshoot malfunctions, and call for repairs.
  • Maintain a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
  • Maintain supplies inventory by checking stock, anticipating needed supplies, placing and expediting orders, and verifying receipt of supplies.
  • Conserve resources by using equipment and supplies as needed to accomplish job results.
  • Document actions by completing production and quality forms.
  • Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
