About The Position

As a Carbon Welder, you will be responsible for executing high-quality welds specifically on carbon steel materials using a variety of manual welding processes. Your expertise will ensure complete penetration and fusion, prevent distortion, and meet precise specifications for dimension, tolerance, and strength in all welding positions.

Requirements

  • Experience performing welding on carbon steel materials using multiple welding processes
  • Knowledge of oxy-acetylene and electric arc welding processes
  • Ability to weld in all positions (flat, horizontal, vertical, overhead)
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and specifications
  • Understanding of welding materials, electrodes, and filler rods
  • Strong attention to detail and quality standards
  • Ability to work in confined or challenging environments
  • Problem-solving skills and ability to collaborate with team members

Responsibilities

  • Apply manual welding processes such as oxy-acetylene and electric arc welding (gas metal-arc, shielded metal-arc, and flux-cored arc welding) with a focus on carbon steel applications
  • Weld carbon steel components of various sizes, shapes, and thicknesses, including pipe and structural elements
  • Control heat input and welding techniques to prevent warping or burn-through
  • Interpret blueprints, sketches, drawings, specifications, and work orders to plan and lay out welding tasks accurately
  • Select appropriate welding electrodes or filler rods based on carbon steel type, thickness, and welding position
  • Perform welds in confined or hard-to-reach areas requiring high precision and strength
  • Ensure welds meet specifications for dimension, tolerance, and mechanical strength
  • Inspect completed welds to ensure they are free from defects such as cracks, porosity, and slag inclusions
  • Collaborate with supervisors to resolve welding challenges and ensure compliance with project specifications and safety standards
