Performs tasks related to welding, such as fitting, tacking, orbital welding and semi-automatic GMAW processes. This position reports to the Value Stream Supervisor of the designated area. This role is based at our Fort Worth, Texas location on our 1st shift. This position will be on the manufacturing floor and will be responsible for utilizing the Kiosks located throughout the shop.

Requirements

  • High School or equivalent.
  • One year experience in manufacturing/assembly operations
  • Aptitude to read blueprints.
  • Ability to use and understand dimensional tools including tape measure, calipers, and weld gauges.
  • Ability to follow working instructions and learn ASME code fabrication requirements.
  • Good communication skills.
  • Ability to complete weld training and pass a 2G plate test using GMAW.
  • Initiative to self-train and advance to Welder B.
  • 2G Plate test using GTAW required for advancement.

  • Ability to wear personal protective equipment, which may include, but is not limited to, safety shoes, hearing protection, safety glasses, welding hood including a forced air induction welding hood.

Responsibilities

  • Pulls parts listed on the bill of material (BOM) and checks against blueprints and work orders.
  • Builds parts according to work instructions and engineered production drawings.
  • Performs welding operation with the Orbital Welder.
  • Weld joint preparation to include, grinding, and cleaning of parts for operation.
  • Checks all tools and performs preventative maintenance.
  • Changes out consumables and assists with the maintenance on tools.
  • Checks overhead crane to insure it is functioning properly.
  • Utilizes crane and/or forklift for material handling.
  • Assists with the inspection of parts and inventory reviews.
  • Attends regular safety meetings and training.
  • Gathers, cleans, and inspects safety gear.
  • Organizes and cleans work area daily.
  • Assume responsibility for other projects and duties as assigned by Supervisors and/or managers and other applicable Company management teams.
  • Responsibility directly tied to Watts Value (Integrity, Accountability, Continuous Improvement, Transparency)
