Perform GTAW and SMAW welding in all positions, including restricted positions on conventional or alloy piping systems. Weld high-alloy materials such as: Chrome (1¼Cr, 2¼Cr, 5Cr, 9Cr), Stainless steel (304/316/321/347), Duplex and super-duplex, Inconel, Monel, Hastelloy, and others. Follow applicable WPS requirements, maintaining strict control of interpass temperature, heat input, purge quality, and filler selection. Perform weld joint preparation and cleanliness to prevent contamination, oxidation, or weld metal embrittlement. Maintain consistent weld quality despite wind, weather, humidity, temperature, and restricted access. Follow all site-specific safety rules and permits (hot work, confined space, elevated work, etc.). Identify hazards such as pressure boundaries, stored energy, heat stress, or oxygen-deficient areas. Properly set up fire-resistant welding screens or hooch’s, fire watches, and spark containment measures, following the site's safety requirements. Use all PPE including appropriate welding clothing, respirators, fall protection, and eye/hand protection. Produce welds meeting acceptance criteria for VT, RT, UT, PT, or MT as applicable. Read and follow WPS, P&IDs, ISO drawings, weld maps, and material specs. Maintain traceability (heat numbers, filler control, joint verification) according to the Welding Program and Quality Control Department expectations. Self-inspect welds before QC notification. Report weld defects, equipment issues, or deviations immediately. Meet or exceed daily weld count and productivity targets set by supervisors. Adapt to changing job priorities such as emergent repairs or shutdown critical path work. Work effectively with fitters, riggers, pipe crews, inspectors, and engineering when needed. Manage welding consumables efficiently, minimize rework, and maintain equipment readiness. Accurately document weld numbers, joint completion, and material verification. Participate in daily toolbox talks, safety briefings, and quality meetings. Communicate challenges early (access, fit-up issues, equipment damage, consumable needs). Support weld sequencing and field installation planning.
