About The Position

As a Level 1 Welder, you will follow all Spacesaver safety policies and procedures, learn and perform start up and shut down procedures, ergonomic practices, E-stops, Lock Out Tagout procedures, and understand pinch points and adjust light curtains. You will perform Standard Work by following Work/Operator Instructions/Training, report defective materials or questionable conditions to the department supervisor, and meet or exceed department’s production efficiency goals. You will understand and practice 5S (Sort, Set in Order, Shine, Standardize, and Sustain), perform required preventative maintenance on machines, and complete tasks as directed by manufacturing schedules with minimum supervision. You will also complete quality inspections using precision measuring devices, perform problem solving and containment, and complete in-process documentation and non-conforming material process. Additionally, you will complete all required record documentation, support and participate in assignments in other work areas as workload demands change, and participate in continuous improvement activities. You will use Spacesaver’s ERP system to join and leave a work center, start/stop shop orders, and report quantities of acceptable and scrap product. You will adhere to scheduled work hours and be available to work overtime as needed, and always behave in a safe manner.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred, and 3-5 years of experience or a technical degree and 1 year of experience.
  • Achievement of a passing score on required assessments.
  • Complete all assigned developmental training plans, classes, and certifications.
  • Solid PC familiarity, navigation, scanning, and data entry.
  • Ability to read and comprehend instructions and memos in the English language.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively present information one-on-one to other team members.
  • Able to read tape measures and efficiently operate all other required measuring devices such as calipers, measuring tables, protractors and other measuring equipment.
  • Proven ability to work effectively independently and in a team environment.
  • Good time management skills, ability to multi-task, meet deadlines, and be attentive to detail.
