About The Position

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Weld Lead to oversee and coordinate welding operations on shop. In this pivotal role, you will lead a team of welders, ensuring all welding activities adhere to safety standards, quality specifications, and project timelines. This role requires the ability to set up, fit, position, and weld parts using fixtures, jigs, gauges, and basic measuring tools while maintaining safe work practices and producing welds that meet process and final inspection standards. Your expertise in various welding techniques, blueprint interpretation, and mechanical fabrication will drive the success of our projects. Requirements

High school diploma or GED/HSED required.
Basic knowledge of welding principles, techniques, and equipment operation.
GMAW welding certification or ability to complete required welder certification testing.
Ability to read and follow work instructions, welding procedures, and quality requirements.
Ability to use basic measuring and layout tools accurately.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to producing quality welds.
Ability to work independently on repetitive tasks while meeting inspection and production expectations.

Nice To Haves

One to three months of related welding experience or training preferred.
Technical college diploma or certificate in welding preferred but not required.
Bilingual: English/Spanish (preferred)

Responsibilities

Perform welding operations on repetitive weldments and structures following prescribed procedures and work instructions.
Train, coach, and mentor welders on proper welding techniques, safe work practices, blueprint reading, fixture use, and quality expectations.
Ensure welders follow approved weld procedures, work instructions, WPS requirements, and customer specifications at all times.
Assist with daily work assignments, prioritize jobs, and coordinate workflow to support production schedules and project timelines.
Perform in-process weld checks and provide feedback to welders to correct fit-up, penetration, appearance, or dimensional issues before final inspection.
Communicate equipment, material, documentation, or quality concerns to supervision and support corrective actions as needed.
Adjust and regulate welding machines within defined WPS ranges to achieve proper penetration, fill, weld quality, and performance.
Fit, align, and position parts using welding fixtures, jigs, etching, or other approved methods.
Use basic measuring tools, including rules, squares, protractors, templates, and fixed gauges, to verify dimensions and alignment.
Apply basic welding fundamentals and approved techniques to complete assigned work accurately and efficiently.
Maintain weld quality in accordance with process requirements, final inspection standards, and test criteria.
Complete required quality, department, ISO procedure, and welder certification requirements.
