About The Position

This role assists Welder I and Welder II in various welding tasks. The position involves preparing workpieces, setting up welding equipment, handling materials, and operating tools under guidance. The Weld Helper will also read basic welding blueprints, assist in tack welding, and support a safe work environment. The role requires effective communication, strong interpersonal skills, good decision-making, multi-tasking, and the ability to work in a fast-paced team environment. Physical demands include lifting up to 50lbs, standing or sitting for extended periods, and working in a manufacturing facility with varying temperatures, dust, and potential chemical fume exposure.

Responsibilities

Assists Welder I and Welder II in various welding tasks as directed.
Prepares workpieces for welding by cleaning, grinding, and scraping as necessary.
Helps set up welding equipment and tools under supervision.
Handles and stores welding materials and equipment properly.
Operates power tools and hand tools under guidance.
Reads and interprets basic welding blueprints and instructions.
Assists in tack welding components together for final welding.
Supports Welder I and Welder II in maintaining a safe and clean work environment.
Learns and follows safety procedures and guidelines at all times.
Assists in training and mentoring new helpers as needed.
