This is a second shift position scheduled for four 10-hour shifts, Monday through Thursday. A $3.00/hour shift differential is provided. The Set Up position, reporting to the Manufacturing Supervisor, is responsible for setting up, fitting, clamping, bolting, and tack welding diversified structural and weldment assemblies according to drawings, specifications, bills of material, material specifications, welding instructions, and codes. This role requires knowledge of welding technology and ASME Section IX Welding Qualifications. The position also involves providing leadership and guidance to helpers and other assigned personnel. Key responsibilities include determining necessary sub-assemblies, cutting openings, fitting up and tack welding components, making temporary fixtures, setting up face blocks and jigs to minimize distortion, repairing damaged parts, operating material handling equipment, designing and making templates, consulting with welders on methods to offset heat effects, collaborating with supervisors and engineering on non-conformities, fabricating fixtures for repetitive products, and ensuring proper weld dimensions using various measuring tools. The role consistently meets customer quality requirements, follows instructions, and provides guidance and training to less experienced employees. Safety and housekeeping are paramount, requiring the use of safety equipment, maintaining a clean work area, and adhering to safety policies. The position also involves contributing to continuous improvement suggestions and pursuing professional development goals.
