About The Position

The 2nd shift Weld/Fab Business Unit Leader is responsible for overseeing the safety, people management, quality, delivery, and cost aspects of the welding and fabrication operations. This role involves promoting a safe work environment, managing and developing a team of welders and fabricators, ensuring adherence to quality standards, planning and managing production schedules, and meeting cost objectives through process evaluation and continuous improvement.

Requirements

  • Experience in welding and fabrication.
  • Knowledge of safety policies, PPE, hot work, crane operation, and material handling procedures.
  • Ability to conduct accident investigations and implement corrective actions.
  • Skills in training employees on safe work practices.
  • Ability to maintain housekeeping and 5S standards.
  • Experience in prioritizing, scheduling, and delegating work.
  • Ability to coordinate manpower and resources.
  • Skills in training and developing employees.
  • Ability to monitor performance and provide coaching, mentoring, and corrective action.
  • Ability to address employee concerns and maintain open communication.
  • Knowledge of weld procedures, fabrication methods, workmanship, and documentation standards (company, customer, ISO, code, quality).
  • Ability to audit work and resolve nonconformances.
  • Experience in leading root cause and corrective actions.
  • Ability to review drawings, weld symbols, specifications, and engineering changes.
  • Experience in supporting prototypes, first articles, audits, customer visits, and technical troubleshooting.
  • Ability to plan and manage fabrication and welding schedules.
  • Ability to coordinate labor, materials, and resources to meet production and delivery requirements.
  • Skills in reviewing shortages and adjusting schedules.
  • Ability to follow up with supply chain and vendors.
  • Ability to coordinate material handling and maintenance.
  • Ability to monitor workflow through fabrication, welding, grinding, and finishing.
  • Ability to complete required records.
  • Ability to support startup and shutdown activities.
  • Ability to meet production goals and margin objectives while maintaining quality.
  • Skills in evaluating processes, tooling, fixtures, equipment utilization, and labor efficiency.
  • Experience in supporting lean and continuous improvement.
  • Ability to maintain equipment, consumables, gases, grinding materials, and fabrication tooling.
  • Ability to participate in planning and project reviews to improve safety, quality, productivity, and cost performance.
