About The Position

The bilingual Welcome Coordinator will be responsible for managing front desk operations, including greeting patients, scheduling appointments, and handling inquiries in both Spanish and English. This role is crucial in ensuring effective communication and a positive experience for all patients. ¡Vamos! Health provides primary care and navigational services in Spanish and English. They offer a membership model where patients receive a high level of attention for a predictable monthly fee. No insurance is required for membership, though some locations accept Medicaid. The goal is to keep mixed-Medicaid eligible families visiting the doctor together and to provide continuity of care as individuals fall in and out of eligibility. The team members who interact with patients are fully bilingual in Spanish and English. They offer primary care for all ages in-person, over the phone, and by text message. Community Health Navigators support members with services beyond clinical care.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Fluency in both English and Spanish (written and spoken).
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality.
  • Proficiency in using office software and medical record systems.
  • CPR certification.
  • Ability to lift 20 pounds
  • Frequently required to sit or stand for periods of time or bend, stretch or stoop
  • Frequently able to use all types of vision, such as close vision or computer vision

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience in a medical office or similar setting preferred.
  • Certification in medical office administration or a related field.
  • Experience with electronic health records (EHR) systems.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Previous experience in a bilingual customer service role.
  • Familiarity with insurance billing and coding

Responsibilities

  • Greet Patients: Welcome patients and visitors in a warm and professional manner, both in person and over the phone, in English and Spanish.
  • Schedule Appointments: Coordinate and schedule patient appointments, ensuring clear communication in both languages.
  • Manage Patient Records: Retrieve, update, and maintain patient information with accuracy and confidentiality.
  • Answer Inquiries: Address patient questions and concerns, providing information and assistance in both languages.
  • Process Payments: Handle patient charges, process payments, and file third-party claims.
  • Educate and enroll potential patients in Vamos memberships: Help potential patients see the value of a Vamos membership and enroll them into plans that best fit their needs.
  • Maintain Office Inventory: Ensure the office is stocked with necessary supplies and equipment.
  • Support Patient Comfort: Anticipate patient anxieties and provide reassurance in both languages.
