Weights & Research Inspectors are responsible for reviewing inspection reports to identify potential issues, conducting inspections of shipments on the dock utilizing handheld devices, and reviewing BOL and billing descriptions to verify accuracy. They gather information related to the shipment, including dimensions, pictures, and commodity characteristics. A key part of the role involves researching commodity information using the National Motor Freight Classification (NMFC) for applicable description and class, and issuing document corrections based on the applicable provisions from the NMFC. Inspectors will also upload documents/pictures into the image system for review and maintain the reports necessary to measure corrections activity and revenue recovery.
