Weights Measures Inspector - Region 1
About The Position
The Department of Agriculture is seeking a Weights Measures Inspector who enjoys hands-on work and solving real-world problems. In this role, you will help verify that scales, scanners, and packaged goods meet legal standards. Your inspections will protect both buyers and sellers while supporting fair business practices. Requirements
- Four years of public contact work, including one year of experience in weights and measures inspections; and graduation from high school ; or Any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the applicant with the requisite knowledge and skills and abilities with weights and measures inspections.
- Possession of a valid PA Class C non-commercial driver's license.
- Must be able to perform essential job functions.
Nice To Haves
- Experience with towing trailers.
- Experience climbing up and down ladders.
Responsibilities
- Test scales, meters, and scanning systems to confirm accuracy and compliance with regulations
- Check packaged goods for correct weight, measure, or count and document any issues found
- Investigate violations, prepare prosecution materials, and testify when required
- Gather fuel and biofuel samples and complete required chain of custody documents
- Submit accurate inspection, mileage, and incident reports as required
- Use and maintain assigned tools, vehicles, and safety equipment properly
