About The Position

This position supports the work of the YMCA, a leading non-profit charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. Under the direction of the Chief Operating Officer, the Weekend Waterfront Manager leads all weekend waterfront operations with a strong focus on safety, compliance, and staff supervision.

Requirements

  • Minimum 2 or more years of experience required
  • Current CPR for the Professional Rescuer certification
  • Current certification in First Aid
  • Knowledge of and commitment to the mission of the YMCA and its capacity to build strong kids, families, and communities. The ability to articulate and model the YMCA’s four core values of Caring, Honesty, Respect and Responsibility are essential
  • Flexibility to adjust in a changing environment
  • Exceptional interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organizational, time management, attention to detail, problem-solving and analytical skills. Able to plan, organize, and implement projects and follow up as required

Responsibilities

  • Create and manage lifeguard rotations and break schedules
  • Ensure adequate coverage at all times
  • Conduct pre-shift briefings and post-shift debriefs
  • Enforce all waterfront safety standards and emergency procedures
  • Monitor environmental conditions (weather, water safety risks)
  • Lead emergency response efforts
  • Evaluate lifeguard performance and provide feedback
  • Ensure all certifications remain current
  • Conduct in-service drills and skill refreshers
  • Attend required Abuse Risk Management training and adhere to procedures related to managing high-risk activities and supervising members and participants.
  • Follow employee and volunteer screening requirements and use screening instruments to screen for abuse risk. Provide employees and volunteers with on-going supervision and training related to abuse risk.
  • Provide employees and volunteers with regular feedback regarding their boundaries with consumers and require them to adhere to policies and procedures related to abuse risk.
  • Respond quickly to policy and procedure violations using the Y’s disciplinary procedures and respond seriously and confidentially to reports of suspicious and inappropriate behaviors and follow mandated reporting requirements.
  • Communicate to all employees and volunteers the Y’s commitment to protect our members from abuse.
