Full-time Weekend On-Call RN Runner
About The Position
This position requires the RN Runner to remain available during assigned shifts to receive telephone calls from the Triage Nurse and respond to all calls within 20 minutes. The role involves making home visits as directed by the Triage Nurse, performing patient assessments, deriving nursing diagnoses, and assessing the need for hospice aide services. The RN Runner will also assess and provide pain management strategies to assist with patient comfort, plan nursing interventions in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team, and provide teaching and emotional support to patients and families. Promoting a team environment, complying with company policies and procedures, and protecting patient confidentiality are key aspects of this role. The position also involves promoting the philosophy and services of Hospice of Huntington, Inc.
Requirements
- Graduate of an accredited professional school of nursing.
- Licensed registered nurse in West Virginia and Ohio.
- Minimum of 2 years registered nursing experience.
- Proof of liability insurance.
- Current driver's license, automobile insurance, and reliable transportation.
- Philosophy compatible with the hospice concept.
- Successful completion of a background check.
- Successful completion of a drug screening.
- Possession of a valid driver's license.
Nice To Haves
- BSN preferred.
- Home health or hospice nursing preferred.
Responsibilities
- Remain available during assigned shifts to receive telephone calls from the Triage Nurse.
- Respond to all calls within 20 minutes.
- Make home visits as directed by the Triage Nurse.
- Perform assessment of patients visited and derive nursing diagnosis based on assessment data.
- Assess the need for hospice aide services.
- Assess and provide pain management strategies to assist with the patient's comfort.
- Plan nursing interventions in collaboration with the interdisciplinary team to resolve current problems or prevent potential problems.
- Provide teaching to patients/families to assist in the patients comfort as needed.
- Provide emotional support to patients/families in a manner that fosters independence and affirms existing strengths.
- Promote working in a team environment.
- Comply with policies and procedures of Hospice of Huntington, Inc.
- Protect the confidentiality of private health care information of patients.
- Promote the philosophy and services of Hospice of Huntington, Inc.
