About The Position

This position is responsible for following lock out, safety, and PPE policies. The primary duty is to watch for fires in the area where millwrights are working and to extinguish fires if they occur. The role also involves assisting millwrights as requested and may include cleanup duties and basic maintenance procedures when applicable. The worker will be standing on a slightly elevated wooden platform with rubber mats, moving back and forth in front of an elevated dry conveyor.

Requirements

Must have excellent hand eye coordination
Use vision/hearing continuously
Must have peripheral vision to see forklifts and co-workers
Reading and speech required to communicate comprehension of Job Hazard Analysis, machine specific lockout procedures, monthly safety training, etc.
Self-directed in identifying and efficiently completing each task
Ability to prioritize, organize, and make necessary decisions
Do only maintenance you are trained to do
Keep all body parts out of machinery
Always use our 14-step lockout/tagout procedure before doing any maintenance, clearing jams, or getting into machinery for any reason
Be aware of stored energy
Use proper body mechanics (e.g., don’t overreach, get help as needed to push loads out)
Use proper PPE (gloves, eye protection, hearing protection)
Be aware of and always communicate with your co-worker (e.g., forklift driver)
Will be required to read and write during safety training
