Wedding Venue General Manager

Wedgewood Weddings•Bermuda Dunes, CA
•$75,000 - $83,430•Onsite

About The Position

The General Manager in Training (GMIT) program is a 6-12 month development track designed for experienced hospitality leaders who already possess skills in managing teams, achieving sales targets, and ensuring accountability. This program aims to teach participants how to run a complete venue operation, including sales, events, and operations, within the Wedgewood Weddings model. The company is one of the nation's largest venue and event companies with over 90 locations and is focused on growth. The GMIT program is designed to onboard proven hospitality leaders from outside the company and teach them the Wedgewood model efficiently. General Managers at Wedgewood own their P&L, build their teams, set the property's tone, and are measured by results. Centralized HR, marketing, and accounting teams handle back-office functions, allowing GMs to focus on their venue and staff. A network of GMs provides support and shared problem-solving. Upon completion of the training, GMs are eligible for the Employee Ownership Program, a compensation opportunity tied to the company's financial performance and growth, potentially offering a significant payout based on tenure and performance. The training involves working directly with a top-performing General Manager at a Wedgewood Weddings venue, covering full venue operations (culinary, sales, event planning, banquet execution), leading sales and coaching sales teams, building and developing teams, managing financial numbers (revenue, labor, cost control, P&L), executing high-volume events under pressure, and setting a positive company culture. Placement as a GMIT is based on candidate parameters and company openings, with opportunities nationwide. Candidates open to relocation generally move into a GM role faster, but flexibility is noted as opening more opportunities.
