About The Position

The Website Developer owns and evolves our public-facing website (draper.com) and our internal SharePoint employee portal. This dual-scope role demands equal fluency in polished front-end design, robust back-end development, and enterprise intranet architecture. This is a critical role in creating and maintaining Draper’s digital presence, ensuring websites are functional, visually appealing, and optimized for user experience across multiple platforms. The incumbent in this role works to enhance company’s external brand, bridge the gap between design and functionality, ensuring that websites and digital platforms are not only visually appealing but also fast, secure, responsive, and aligned with business goals. This role will be on-site 3-days a week in our Cambridge, MA facility.

Requirements

  • Managed or redesigned a corporate or institutional website end-to-end.
  • HTML, Content Management System platforms, Python, JavaScript, Google Analytics, and web development proficiency.
  • Graphic design, and user experience (UX) /user interface (UI) understanding.
  • Create, manage, and optimize digital content, including search engine optimization (SEO).
  • Knowledge and skills of SharePoint development for building solutions in SharePoint and Microsoft Teams.
  • Understanding of Microsoft Graph AP and REST API principles to securely connect and manipulate SharePoint data.
  • Ability to translate user goals into intuitive online experiences, including wireframes, mockups, and style guides.
  • Strong analytical skills to troubleshoot issues and optimize website performance.
  • Associate degrees required.
  • 5 years of relevant experience surrounding internal employee portals and public facing websites.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, or related fields is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead design, development, and ongoing management of draper.com — including architecture, performance, accessibility, and content governance.
  • Build, configure, and maintain Draper's internal SharePoint Online environment, including intranet pages, team sites, document libraries, and custom web parts.
  • Conduct routine audits, update and redesign content, optimize performance, and ensure security compliance.
  • Work closely with designers and cross-functional teams to align website functionality with business objectives.
  • Perform compatibility testing across browsers and devices, optimize for speed and scalability, and implement technical SEO elements.
  • Participate in planning, prototyping, and documentation, sometimes leading projects or mentoring junior developers.
  • Interacts and partner with designers, project managers and other developers.
