About The Position

Graphic Packaging International is seeking candidates to join their Kalamazoo, MI Carton team for an entry-level Web or Converting Extra position. This role involves operating printing and folder/gluer machines to transform paperboard into consumer packaging. Responsibilities

  • Operate or tend a printing machine and folder/gluer machine that transforms paperboard into various consumer packaging products.
  • Read and interpret job jacket information on upcoming jobs on production schedule.
  • Locate sheeted board and compare label on skid with job jacket to ensure correct material.
  • Operate pallet jack to move skids from raw material warehouse to press room.
  • Load skids of sheeted board on press conveyor and maintain conveyor during entire production run.
  • Respond to Pressman with any special request during press make ready, monitor press feed during press runs.
  • Fill all press chemicals, load inks, put away inks when done with job and refill process inks on press shelf when needed.
  • Understand the importance of environmental responsibilities and proper disposal of press waste.
  • Ensure all used rags are disposed of in rag bin and that the lid remain closed.
  • Remove any full AQ/Fountain solution flush water drums from press to Non-Hazardous waste staging area.
  • Ensure that any new drum used to collect waste at the press are properly labeled.
  • Clean ink knives, ink fountains, water buckets, coater spills, washer blades and keep the press area in a clean state, as well as emptying all garbage bins in press area.
  • Pick up used rags and gloves in press area, change rag bag when full and maintain stack of clean rags for use on the press.
  • Assist the pressman in any maintenance of the press.
  • Follow all company safety requirements.
  • Comply with all company rules and regulations.
  • Perform other duties as required to achieve the overall goals and objectives of the Company.
