About The Position

SweetRush is seeking highly experienced and versatile freelance Web Developers for future opportunities on its Custom Development team. This is a hands-on technical role focused on building custom front-end web architecture and using AI to accelerate coding workflows. Developers may serve as key technical resources, taking ownership of projects from conceptualization through deployment.

The role involves building custom learning solutions with modern web technologies, including React, custom HTML5/JavaScript, and the SweetRush Adapt framework. Developers will use AI and agentic coding workflows, rapidly prototype design concepts, and connect front-end learning experiences to API servers for capabilities such as LLM-driven simulations, dynamic AI feedback, chatbots, and advanced xAPI tracking.

This posting is for future opportunities, not a current project. The position is remote, with applicants in the United States or Costa Rica, and requires availability during US daytime hours. The team collaborates with instructional designers, graphic designers, project managers, and clients.

Requirements

• Proven web development experience and a strong portfolio of web applications, custom learning modules, or interactive web experiences.
• Deep expertise in JavaScript, HTML5, CSS, and modern component-based frameworks such as React.
• Demonstrated experience using AI tools such as Claude Code to write, debug, and optimize code.
• Understanding of implementing standard AI APIs in web applications.
• Experience with responsive design, accessibility standards including WCAG/508 compliance, LMS integration (SCORM/xAPI), and localization workflows.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, including the ability to identify and implement creative technical solutions.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with experience collaborating with diverse teams.
• Strong written and verbal English skills.
• Ability to work independently, adapt to client timelines, and drive projects to completion with a high degree of ownership.
• Flexible mindset and ability to learn new tools and technologies quickly.
• Availability during US daytime hours.

Responsibilities

• Develop custom front-end features for tailored eLearning projects using HTML, CSS, JavaScript, React, and the SweetRush Adapt framework.
• Use AI coding assistants and agentic workflows to improve development efficiency, automate repetitive tasks, and prototype custom HTML5 logic.
• Integrate front-end learning experiences with middle-layer API servers to support LLM-driven simulations, dynamic AI feedback, chatbots, and advanced xAPI data tracking.
• Propose technical architecture solutions for complex projects.
• Collaborate with instructional designers, graphic designers, project managers, and clients.
• Take ownership of projects from conceptualization through deployment.
