About The Position

Scale AI is hiring a Web Designer for its Interactive Brand Studio, a nine-person full-time team responsible for Scale’s visual identity and brand strategy, scale.com design and development, and original creative content. The role focuses primarily on scale.com and reports to the Manager of Web Experience.

The Web Designer will create responsive website layouts, templates, graphics, and interactive UI patterns; develop reusable components and systems; and translate business objectives, brand direction, and user needs into wireframes, flows, prototypes, and high-fidelity designs. The role partners with web engineers to communicate design intent, provide implementation-ready specifications, review builds, and ensure quality execution. It also applies accessibility, usability, responsive design, and performance best practices; upholds and evolves Scale’s visual identity; experiments with AI-powered tools and emerging interaction patterns; and iterates on designs using cross-functional feedback.

Scale’s eligible-role compensation packages include base salary, equity, and benefits. For this full-time role in San Francisco, New York, and Seattle, the stated base salary range is $174,200–$217,800 USD. The posting notes that salary depends on location and other factors, and equity eligibility is subject to confirmation. Requirements

• At least 8 years of experience in web design, digital design, visual design, or a related field.
• A portfolio demonstrating strong visual craft, web design expertise, and shipped digital experiences.
• Proficiency in Figma for design systems, component libraries, prototyping, and developer handoff.
• Understanding of responsive design, typography, layout systems, accessibility, interaction design, and modern web UI/UX principles.
• Ability to design within technical constraints while maintaining experience quality.
• Understanding of how designs translate into production websites and working knowledge of HTML and CSS.
• Ability to create scalable design patterns and reusable components that maintain visual consistency across complex websites and content types.
• Interest in emerging AI tools and their potential to transform design and development workflows, with active experimentation and fresh ideas.
• Ability to balance speed with craft, manage competing priorities, and deliver high-quality work in a fast-moving environment.
• Clear communication, openness to constructive feedback, proactive problem-solving, and effective collaboration with design, engineering, marketing, and brand partners.

Nice To Haves

• Familiarity with Adobe Creative Cloud, AEM, or Canva tools.
• Experience designing and implementing motion graphics, animations, and micro-interactions for digital experiences.
• Familiarity with modern web development workflows and frameworks such as React and Next.js, and deployment platforms such as Vercel.
• Experience with headless CMS platforms, particularly Sanity, and designing flexible, modular page templates.
• Familiarity with AI-assisted design, prototyping, and vibe-coding tools for rapidly exploring and building interactive web experiences.
• Experience using web analytics, experimentation, or user research to inform design decisions and improve user journeys.
• Experience creating data visualizations, technical graphics, or complex information experiences.
• Interest in the AI industry and understanding of Scale’s mission and products.

Responsibilities

• Design responsive, visually compelling website layouts, page templates, graphics, and interactive UI patterns across Scale’s digital properties, primarily scale.com.
• Create reusable design components, patterns, and systems that promote consistency and help teams work efficiently.
• Develop wireframes, user flows, prototypes, and high-fidelity mockups that translate business objectives, brand direction, and user needs into intuitive experiences.
• Partner with web engineers to communicate design intent, prepare implementation-ready specifications, review builds, and ensure high-quality execution.
• Apply responsive design, accessibility, usability, and web performance best practices across devices and screen sizes.
• Champion Scale’s visual identity while exploring design directions that reflect the company’s growth and position in the AI industry.
• Explore AI-powered design and development tools, rapid prototyping, and new interaction patterns.
• Partner with cross-functional stakeholders to incorporate feedback, evaluate effectiveness, and continuously improve web experiences.
